Black Birch Urn #21026

This urn was made from a small black birch tree that grew just outside the shop. I love this wood. The sapwood has a special glow, it is very light in color with a subtle grain pattern, there’s just a touch of deep reddish brown heartwood. The Black walnut lid is threaded into the urn with a finely machined threaded brass insert. Both the urn and lid have a hand rubbed lacquer finish. An amazing solid glass Gravitron Planet by Josh Simpson sits in a recess in the lid so you can remove it. You will want to hold the Planet in your hand to examine it as you consider…..the past, the future, the possibilities, the universe……
